our story!

Hi, my name is Gracie Eaton and I am the founder and owner of The Bees Needs Apiary. This business started as an idea I found while developing a Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) project for my FFA Chapter at Neoga High School. As I continued to learn more and more about bees and just how much they provide us with, this project turned into passion that I am so proud of. We started this business with 2 full hives, and now we have built that number up to 17, and we are still growing at a steady pace!! I can not wait to see where this small business leads me and I am so thankful for the opportunity to use this as a platform to help out causes that deserve to be supported.

Donations

Supporting different charities has always been something I am passionate about, so being able to mix my passion for beekeeping and helping people in my community seemed like the best case scenario! Here’s a little bit about the 3 charities I am promoting right now:

Marty Hartke & Family - Marty Hartke is married to Ashley Hartke and together they have 3 beautiful little girls all under the age of 12. Marty was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, which is a type of aggressive, rapidly spreading brain cancer. He enjoys spending time with his family attending Illini basketball games, St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, and hunting. With the medical bills, transportation costs, and food prices adding up for this family, I wanted to support them in any way that I could.

Elizabeth Weidner - Elizabeth Weidner was not only one of the people who became one of my best friends, but she was also my biggest inspiration. She created the organization “Crowns Fight Cancer” during her reign as the Jr.Miss Effingham County Fair Queen. Elizabeth was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at the young age of 11. She proved so many people and doctors wrong when she fought the most beautiful battle with cancer. Cancer may have been the thing that took her life too young, but it did not defeat her. She fought for everyone during her own battle and for that I want to donate to the American Cancer Association to continue the work that Lizzy so bravely took on during the hardest time in her life. Elizabeth passed away in September of 2021.

Alzheimer’s Association - This organization holds a special place in my heart because members of my immediate family have been affected by this terrifying disease. Annually in the United States, more than 500,000 people will be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and 121,499 people will die from it. i want to raise money for Alzheimer’s research that will give families some peace of mind if their loved ones are diagnosed.
